Ruisha  Zhang


Master of Music, Westminster Choir College of Rider University 
Pianist Ruisha Rosita Zhang is a Doctoral Candidate in Piano Performance from Claremont Graduate University, CA and earned her M.M. in Piano Pedagogy and performance with distinction from Westminster Choir College of Rider University. She is Studying with Dr. Nadia Shpachenko. Her former piano teachers include Prof. Eduardus Halim (New York University), Prof. Phyllis Lehrer (Westminster Choir College), Dr. Weihui Mao (Setinway Artist), Prof. Jingsong Xian (Xinghai Conservatory in China) and Prof. Minzhan Zhang (Tianjin Conservatory in China). She has studied piano pedagogy extensively with Dr. James Goldworthy, Dr. Stefan Young, Prof. Ingrid Clarfield, Prof. Lillian Livingston.

Miss Zhang is passionate about piano teaching. She was the Music Director and Piano Teacher in Zongyi Piano School, Guangdong China and the Guest Pedagogical Consultant and Piano Teacher in Jingling Piano School, Guangdong China. On July 19th, 2014, she held an open lesson with intermediate and advanced levels of students in Guangdong China. She also held former faculty positions at Westminster Conservatory in Princeton, NJ. Her 6 years of teaching experience covers diverse types of students from the beginning to late advanced levels with a wide range of age from 5 years old to adults. She is the member of NJMTA (New Jersey Music Teachers Association) and member of MTNA (Music Teachers National Association).

She is committed to cultivating a love, ability and appreciation of music in her students by effective teaching methods, active participation in competitions and grading tests, continual arrangement of student music salons and concerts. Her students love performing, composing, improvising, and getting creative with music! They have won competitions in their age division and received good grade in piano grading tests (Chinese National Grading Test and ABRSM).

Miss Zhang, meanwhile, has been active as a professional piano performer and scholar by holding solo recitals and concerts frequently. She recently presented a lecture recital entitled “The connection between classical music and our lives” in Guangdong China, accompanied Saxophone Recital for Opening Soloist For the Nassau Recital Series in Princeton NJ, performed the Piano Graduate Recital in Bristol Chapel in Westminster Choir College, Princeton NJ, performed in Master Class led by Jeremy Denk in Williamson Hall in Westminster Choir College, Princeton NJ, etc. As a former member of world renowned Westminster Symphonic Choir, Miss Zhang has performed prominent choral works at Kimmel Center, Carnegie Hall, and Princeton University Chapel with the Philadelphia Orchestra and many of the world’s leading orchestras.
