Dr. Vernon Snyder

Vernon Snyder holds degrees from Southern Oregon University (B.A., Music Performance, Music Education), California State University, Long Beach (M.M., Music Performance), and Claremont Graduate University (D.M.A., Music Performance). He undertook additional piano studies at the Vienna Konservatorium while completing German language certificates in Austria and Germany. He was inducted into the Phi Kappa Phi and Pi Kappa Lambda Honor Societies, and received numerous awards, including the Evans Family Music Scholarship, Kenneth Fiske Fellowship in Music, Fernandez Prize, and First Place in the graduate division of the Rudolph Polk Memorial Award. He has studied piano with Alexander Tutunov, Shun-lin Chou, and Nadia Shpachenko, as well as harpsichord with Robert Zappulla.

Dr. Snyder maintains an active concert schedule which encompasses both solo and collaborative repertoire, with recent performances throughout the United States and Korea. In addition to the standard repertory, he has cultivated specialized expertise in the late piano music of Franz Liszt, symbolism in Bach’s Well-Tempered Clavier, and collaborative piano in art songs of Latin America. Dr. Snyder has served as music director and organist at numerous churches in Oregon and California, and has over a decade of experience leading choral ensembles. As an avid music educator, Dr. Snyder has taught at Pomona College, California State University, Long Beach, and delivered numerous lecture-recitals at Cypress College during Concert Hour. He is currently on faculty at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, as well as Music Director at the Claremont School of Theology. For more information, please visit www.vernonsnyder.com.
