Suzuki Pre-Twinkler Parent & Student Class
Open to students age 3 to 7. The Suzuki Method is a wonderful, exciting approach that emphasizes one’s ability to learn to a very high degree! Dr. Shin’ichi Suzuki discovered that all humans have tremendous potential to learn. Through the use of the violin, students are able to learn at a very young age to build the potential that he/she has. Through listening and observation, students and their parent/guardian develop life skills. In this approach, the parent plays a vital role, serving as the ‘secretary’ at the private lesson and being the ‘home teacher’, guiding the student through the listening of songs and practices. Because of the importance of the home teacher, the parent will take 5 parent classes to learn basics of playing the violin. It is highly recommended that the parent rent, purchase, or borrow a violin, so that she/he can learn first hand how to work with the student. The 5 parent sessions are in June, July, and August. In August, the child will take 3 beginning Pre-Twinkler classes. Regular attendance is necessary. There may be more than 1 class if the age difference is too great. Private lessons are to be taken concurrently with the group class and are arranged with the instructor.

Instructor:      Linda Tajima
