Suzuki Pre-Twinlker Parent & Beginning Violin Student - Ages 3-8

The Suzuki Method is a wonderful, exciting approach that emphasizes one’s ability to learn to a very high degree! Dr. Shin’ichi Suzuki realized that all humans have tremendous potential to learn from birth. Through the use of the violin, students are able to learn at a very young age to build the potential that one has. By listening to the recordings, the student gains understanding of style and musicianship. In this building block approach, the parent plays a vital role, serving as the ‘secretary’ at the private lesson and being the ‘home teacher’, guiding the student through practice sessions. Because of the importance of the home teacher, the parent will take 5 parent classes to learn the basics of playing the violin. It is highly recommended that the parent rent, purchase, or borrow a violin, so that he or she can learn firsthand how to work with the student. The 5 parent sessions are in June & July. Beginning on August 11, the child will take the beginning three Pre-Twinkler classes. Regular attendance is necessary. There may be more than one class if the age difference is too great to allow for age appropriate grouping of students. Private lessons are to be taken concurrently with the group class and are arranged through the instructor.
