Suzuki Strings Pre-Twinklers & Twinklers
The Suzuki violin and viola “Twinklers” program is designed for beginning students from three to eight years old. The program includes a workshop class that meets approximately every other Monday, beginning with 4 parent orientation classes that will be continued as a class for the students. Students will have 3 Performance Workshops and a weekly 30-minute private lesson throughout the year. At the beginning of the school term, the parents will need to have a violin in order to learn the basics of technique through playing “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star Variations.” This helps the parent understand what is realistic to expect from the child since the parent is the “Home Teacher.” The workshop is designed to teach the basics of holding the instrument and learning sensitivity to pitch and rhythm. Families are welcome to stay and observe the combined repertoire class to receive more of an overview of the Suzuki approach. Workshops begin Mon, Sep 23.

STEM - String Theory/ Ensemble/ Master Class
This new program mixes in String Theory, Ensemble & Master Classes to aid advancing violin students in preparing for the challenges that lay ahead as their knowledge of theory and musicianship plays a more vital role.

In the STEM Program, students will be placed in one of two groups, based on their advancement - one on Monday evening @ 6:30pm, the other on Saturday @ 3pm. The advancement of the Monday group(A) is CM Level 4/5 or JMF Concerto 1A. The students on Saturdays (B) are at CM Level 6 and above, or JMF Concerto Level II or above. The levels are guidelines to the advancement of the student; they do not need to participate in CM or JMF to be in the STEM Program.

The 10 sessions will meet approximately every 2 weeks. Students will have 2 sections of each area of concentration covered: theory & ensemble, theory & the Master Classes, or ensemble & the Master Class.

This class is a must for all intermediate and advanced students. Not only will students receive greater understanding about theory and performance, they will experience growth [hence, the name STEM] in many areas of their music education, and get to learn alongside friends!
