1970…four
music teachers….a church basement….a school is born!
This was the musical DNA that launched the Claremont
Community School of Music. Noting the void created by
cuts in public school music programs, these four dedicated music
teachers conceived the idea for the creation of a community
school of music.
Today, CCSM enrolls over 600 students annually, guided by 46
highly skilled, professional teachers and performing artists.
While the majority of students reside in Claremont (CA) where
the school is located, the school also draws from a fifty-mile
radius including Los Angeles, San Bernardino, Riverside, and
Orange counties.
Our
thanks to the City of Claremont for providing funding for our
outreach programs through the Community Based Organizations
initiative.
The Claremont Community School of Music is a non-profit,
nonsectarian, independent, co-educational organization. It does
not discriminate on the basis of race, color, creed, national
origin, sex, age or physical handicaps in its admissions, educational
programs, activities or employment policies.
